Subjectively, the screen produces great colors and the image quality is sharp.

The color spectrum coverage of the ( Battery Acer Aspire 4710 ) netbook is unacceptable for professional use due to its extremely limited color space representation when compared to AdobeRGB and sRGB. Still, professional image editors would not want to work with a sub 12-inch display. Compared to the 10.1-inch Samsung NF310 netbook,( Acer Aspire One battery ) the X120e is about the same in terms of color representation,( Vostro 1320 Battery ) but still doesn’t match the performance of larger and more expensive laptop screens such as the 15.5-inch Sony Vaio VPC-EB3Z1E.

Built-in webcamThe matte display diffuses most reflections as expected, ( dell Inspiron 1720 Battery ) so outdoor usage in general is not as troublesome. An included 0.3MP webcam is positioned above the screen and works ( Dell inspiron 1520 battery ) better than average under low-light conditions.

Viewing angle stability is similar to that of the X100e,( Dell Inspiron 1420 battery ) which is notebook-typical. Horizontal viewing angles are good, while vertical viewing angles are much less acceptable, especially if viewing from below.( Dell Inspiron 1525 battery ) Colors will almost immediately shift when watching videos at slight vertical angles.

DPC Latency CheckerThe heart of the ThinkPad X120e is the new AMD Fusion E-350 APU.( battery vostro 1510 ) This dual-core processor is a definite upgrade from the single-core Athlon Neo MV40 and is capable of 1080p video playback while promising a low TDP of only 18 watts.( Sony VGP-BPS13/B battery ) Here, the processor runs at a speed of 1.6GHz with 1024KB of L2 cache.

The Fusion processor also integrates a Radeon 6310 GPU,( VGP-BPS13B/B battery ) which offers 80 unified shaders and a performance level far surpassing that of the integrated Radeon HD 3200 in the X100e. GPU-Z shows the Radeon 6310 GPU underclocked at 200MHz (core) and 533MHz (memory) by default with DirectX 11 support. The core clock can reach as high as 492.3MHz when under load, however, according to HWiNFO. ( battery dell Vostro 1520 ) As with many integrated graphics solutions, there is no dedicated VRAM, so the Radeon GPU will instead borrow from the system RAM as needed.

Two gigabytes of PC3-10700 DDR3 SDRAM at 1333MHz is provided in a single module. The AMD A50M mainboard can support 2 modules maximum and is easily accessible by loosening the three screws from the underside of the X120e. Boot up times are decent, even with no solid-state drive. A cold boot completed in a little under 40 seconds at its default settings.

Disabling this tool will remove the latency spikes, but a BIOS and Power Management driver upgrade will solve this problem as well. Lenovo ThinkPad X120e Laptop Review

Ultraportable budget ThinkPad. ( battery sony vgp-bps13a/s ) The 2011 ThinkPad X120e is the upgrade to last year’s ultra-mobile X100e and is marketed as one of the cheapest ThinkPads around. It is also the first Lenovo notebook to feature an AMD Fusion E-350 APU with integrated Radeon 6310 graphics. In this review, ( vgp-bps13/s battery ) we will find out how much of an improvement the new Fusion processor can bring to this 11.6-inch ThinkPad.
As part of the X-series of ThinkPads,( battery vgp-bps13as ) the X120e excludes some features that are found in the more expensive ThinkPads, such as the ThinkLight in the X200s and X301 models. What it lacks in features is outweighed by the budget-friendly price, and its performance is thankfully significantly upgraded from the X100e( sony vgp-bps13s battery ) due to the inclusion of the dual-core AMD Fusion APU.Case
Those familiar with the ThinkPad X100e should know exactly what to expect from the chassis of the X120e. ( battery apple a1185 ) While the casing is made of plastic and lacks a roll cage, the overall matte shell is surprisingly stiff, which gives an excellent sense of thickness and heft to the build. It may not be as tough as the magnesium alloy construct of the more expensive ThinkPads, but the X120e definitely ranks high amongst other netbooks in its size class.( hp 452057-001 ) Applying pressure on the center of the lid is the only location where even a hint of depression can be done. Additionally, the hinges attaching the screen to its main base are quite sturdy as well,( sony vgp-bps13b/b battery ) but the monitor portion will inevitably vibrate slightly if the notebook is being used during bus or car rides.

Due to the two touchpad buttons on the bottom edge center of the notebook, ( sony vgp-bps13b/s battery ) there is no latch for closing the screen and care should be taken when opening the lid. The main blemish in the case design, however, is its protruding 10.8V 6-cellbattery module on the rear side. At 3.3 pounds (1.5kg) and 1-inch (2.54cm) thickness, the notebook is quite compact, ( battery sony VGP-BPS13A/B ) but is a little thicker and heavier than one would expect. The overall build quality more than makes up for the additional girth, however.
In addition to having all the physical connectivity options of the X100e, the ThinkPad X120e manages to squeeze in more.( dell vostro 1520 battery ) The back side offers a VGA-out port on one end and an AC adapter jack on the other. Like many laptops, the VGA port does not provide screw recesses for securing the video cable.

The keyboard layout here is the standard, non-backlit ThinkPad fare,( HP 6545B Battery ) albeit tightened to fit on a smaller surface area. Its dimensions are about 10.63-inches (27cm) wide by 4.33-inches (11cm) deep. Notably, the Fn key is located at the bottom left corner instead of the usual Ctrl key. While this may be an annoyance for some, users can fortunately switch the Fn key to function as a Ctrl key and vice versa under the system BIOS. The only noteworthy issue with the keyboard layout is the design of the small directional arrow keys. ( hp probook 4710s battery ) Those with larger fingers can easily press on both the up and down keys simultaneously by accident, and the adjacent PgUp and PgDn keys are more deeply recessed into the frame, which makes them offer a bit less of a tactile feedback when pressed. Otherwise, the entirety of the keyboard retains its velvety feel and unmistakable ThinkPad style and ease of use.

Touchpad

The familiar Trackpoint makes itself at home between the G,( hp Compaq 8510W battery ) H and B keys and stands out more than usual due to the smaller size of the overall keyboard. The UltraNav touchpad deserves similar praise to the keyboard, but we wish it could have been a little bit taller at only 2.95-inches (7.5cm) wide and 1.33-inches (3.4cm) deep, ( ibm Thinkpad T61 Battery ) especially since multi-touch gestures are supported. The surrounding buttons are integrated for both touchpad and Trackpoint use, while the center button allows for vertical document and webpage scrolling as needed. Ein neues Gehäusedesign, solide Verarbeitung, aktuelle Hardware und ein mattes 15,6-Zoll-Display sind die wichtigsten Grundzutaten. Ist das HP ProBook 4530s mit einem Preis von rund 700 Euro (UVP) auch ein heißer Preis-Leistungs-Tipp?
Bereits Ende März konnten wir auf einem Presseevent die 2011er HP Business Notebook-Serien begutachten.( Dell M1530 Akku ) Darunter auch das neue HP ProBook 4530s mit mattem 15,6-Zoll-Bildschirm (1366 x 768 Pixel) und vor allem einem neuen Gehäusedesign. Neben dem großflächigem Einsatz von gebürstetem Aluminium dominiert eine schlichte Farbgebung das grundsätzlich moderne Aussehen. Im Vergleich zu den Vorgängern sind jetzt alle Oberflächen matt gehalten.( akku Apple A1175 )Mit einem Intel Core i3-2310M (2,1 GHz),( Akku Dell inspiron 6400 ) der integrierten Intel GMA HD 3000 Grafik, 320 GByte Festplattenspeicher und 4 GByte DDR3-Arbeitsspeicher haben wir uns das neue Low Cost Modell HP ProBook 4530s-XX968EA in die Redaktion geholt. Dazu sei gesagt, dass von HP momentan vier Modelle mit unterschiedlichen Komponenten anbietet. Neben verschiedenen Betriebssystemen stehen diverse Intel Sandy Bridge CPUs (Maximum: Intel Core i7-2620M), ein hochauflösenderes Display,( Akku Apple A1185 ) UMTS und beispielsweise ein Blu-ray-Brenner zur Auswahl.

Ein Blick auf die HP-Modellbezeichnung zeigt, ( Sony VGP-BPS2 akku )dass das Kürzel s im Namen für kurze Plattformzyklen von 9 bis 12 Monaten steht und werksseitig nur eine 12-monatige Garantielaufzeit gewährt wird. Andererseits kann damit die übliche Preisspanne um 700 bis 800 Euro gehalten werden.( Akku Acer 5920G ) Mit Linux OS und abgespeckter Ausstattung geht es aber auch schon ab rund 450 Euro in die Businessklasse.

Der erste Eindruck zählt!(Akku VGP-BPS13b/q ) Das HP ProBook 4530s ist das erste Gerät mit neuem Gewand in unserer Redaktion. Die schlichte Farbgebung der Aluminiumoberflächen gepaart mit dezentem Lack sowie die hochwertige Haptik gefallen auf Anhieb. HP selbst spricht dabei werbewirksam von einem abnutzungssicherem Design. Ein Wundermittel sind die Einlagen aus gebürstetem Aluminium nicht, aber Fingerabdrücke, Staub und Katzer haben im alltäglichen Gebrauch kaum eine Chance.( HP Compaq CQ42 akku ) Erfreulich ist die Tatsache, dass nun endlich auch der Tastaturuntergrund matt lackiert wurde. Bei den Vorgängern war dies ein Kritikpunkt, der nicht recht ins Bild passen wollte.

Die Verarbeitung hinterlässt einen soliden Eindruck und auch im Detail konnten wir keine Schnitzer finden.( Compaq CQ60 Akku ) Andererseits besteht das Gehäuse zum Großteil aus einfachem Kunststoff, der im Vergleich nicht sehr widerstandsfähig ist. Business-Notebooks des gehobenen Preissegmentes können mit hochwertigen Metall-Legierungen oder Verbundmaterialen aufwarten. Im puncto Stabilität bleibt kein Anlass für Kritik.( akku VGP-BPS9A/S ) Selbst bei punktuellem Druck ist kaum ein Unterschied zu erkennen. Nur das Mash-Gitter über der Tastatur sollte nicht zu stark beansprucht werden, da es sonst unschöne Dellen davonträgt. Der Displaydeckel lässt sich sichtbar verwinden, wobei die Aluminium-Auflage dies ab einem gewissen Punkt begrenzt und damit einen Riss im Panel vorbeugt. Positiv ist die Druckstabilität des Deckels. Gehalten wird dieser von zwei wuchtigen Scharnieren, die bei einem straffen Halt nur leicht nachwippen.( Sony VGP-BPS13a/q Akku ) Zu beachten: Trotz entsprechendem Aussehen handelt es sich nicht um hochwertige Displayscharniere aus Vollmetall. Der Kunststoff ist nur mit jeweils einer Blende versehen.

Auch die Gehäuseunterseite hat sich zum Positiven verändert. ( acer aspire 7740 Akku ) Über eine große Wartungsabdeckung, die von zwei Schrauben unter dem Akku gehalten wird, ist nahezu das gesamte Innenleben erreichbar.(Akku VGP-BPS13/b ) Im Bereich des Arbeitsspeichers liegt laut HP-Produktseite das Maximum bei 8 GByte auf zwei Bänken. Die 2,5-Zoll-Festplatte befindet sich im vorderen Bereich und der Austausch gegen eine schnellere Lösung wäre schnell erledigt.

Die gebotene Anschlussausstattung des 4530s hinterlässt einen guten Eindruck. ( Akku Acer Aspire 3680 ) Neben den heute üblichen drei USB-2.0-Ports, einem HDMI- und VGA-Ausgang sind auch ein ExpressCard 34 Einschub sowie USB-3.0-Anschluss vorhanden, der nur durch die Abkürzung für „Super Speed“ zu erkennen ist. Im Vergleich zum Vorgänger entfällt bei der aktuellen Ausführung der eSATA-Komboport und damit gleich zwei Schnittstellen (eSATA und ein weiterer USB-2.0-Port). ( VGP-BPS13b/b Akku ) An dessen Stelle findet sich nun eine RJ-11-Buchse, die heute nur noch äußerst selten zu finden ist.

Die Aufteilung der Ports beschränkt sich leider nur auf die Seiten des Notebooks, ( Akku VGP-BPS13B/S ) wobei die frontlastige Verteilung der Schnittstellen negativ auffällt. Neben raschem Kabelsalat ist unter Umständen auch die Nutzung einer externen Maus beeinträchtigt. Ein weiterer Kritikpunkt ist die niedrige Positionierung des Einschubs für Erweiterungskarten (ExpressCard 34). Viele dieser Steckkarten blockieren bei Benutzung die zwei ( Dell Inspiron 9400 Akku ) USB-Anschlüsse sowie den HDMI-Ausgang an der linken Geräteseite.

Bei den Kommunikationsmöglichkeiten bleiben keine Wünsche offen und in allen Bereichen wird der aktuelle Stand der Technik geboten. ( Dell Latitude D630 Akku ) Neben Gigabit-Ethernet sind WLAN nach 802.11n sowie die Nahfunk-Technologie Bluetooth 3.0 +HS an Bord. Gegen Aufpreis ist auch ein 3G-UMTS-Modul vom Typ „HP Ic2010“ für das ProBook 4530s erhältlich. Der notwendige Platz dafür ist bereits angelegt, der notwendige Sockel sowie die Antennen fehlen aber, ( Akku Acer Aspire 5100 ) wodurch ein nachträglicher Einbau nicht möglich ist.

Der Lieferumfang ist kostenorientiert ausgerichtet und es wird nur das Nötigste geboten. Neben dem Gerät selbst ist ein 65 Watt Netzteil mit Netzkabel, ein 6-Zellen-Akku mit 47 Wattstunden sowie gedruckte Dokumentationen enthalten. ( akku dell vostro 1710 ) Optional bietet HP einiges an Zubehör. Darunter beispielsweise ein großer Akku mit 9 Zellen und 93 Wattstunden, Portreplikatoren, Taschen und ein externes Laufwerk. Ähnlich verhält es sich bei der vorinstallierten Software. ( Sony VGP-BPS22A Akku ) Neben Microsoft Office 2010 Starter sind zahlreiche Freeware-Programme sowie die übliche Testversion eines Anti-Viren Schutzes im Paket enthalten.

Mit einer Garantielaufzeit von nur 12 Monaten mit Bring-In-Service bewegt sich die Service-Leistung im unteren Bereich.( Akku Sony VGP-BPS22 ) Die hochpreisigeren Business-Notebooks von HP kommen im Vergleich mit einem Standard von 36 Monaten.( Sony VGP-BPS8A Akku ) Auch viele Consumer-Notebooks bieten meist ein besseres Paket samt Pick-up & Return-Service. Gegen Aufpreis lässt sich die Garantie des Testgerätes auf maximal 60 Monate erweitern.

Passend zum neuen Design hat nun endlich auch die Tastatur eine Auffrischung erfahren.( Sony VGP-BPS8 Akku ) Bei gleicher Tastenbeschriftung wirkt das Chiclet-Style Layout sehr aufgeräumt und großzügig. Im Vergleich zum Vorgänger mit Edge-to-Edge Design ist das Eingabegerät nun im Gehäuse einlassen, wirkt aber dennoch großzügig. Bei einer Tastengröße von 15 x 15 Millimetern hat sogar noch ein vollwertiger Ziffernblock platz,( Akku VGP-BPS13A/B ) ohne das es zu stören Sparmaßnahmen gekommen ist. Lediglich die Pfeiltasten wurde in ihren Abmessungen ein wenig beschnitten.

Die Tasten bieten bei einem kurzen Hubweg einen sehr deutlichen Druckpunkt.( Sony VGP-BPS9A/B Akku ) Insgesamt ist das subjektive Gefühl gut, wobei die straffe Auslegung der Tasten und das damit ein wenig ruckelige Tippen gefallen muss. Der sehr stabile Untergrund ist aber als ein positives Merkmal hervorzuheben. Die gebotenen Fn-Funktionen setzen sich durch kleine Symbole von den restlichen Tasten sichtbar ab.( Akku VGP-BPS9 ) Auf Zusatztasten oberhalb der Tastatur verzichtet HP größtenteils. Zwei kleine Tasten für das Starten des Internetbrowsers sowie die Verwaltung der Mobiltechnologien erscheinen aber sinnvoll und passen gut in das Bild. Eine optionale Tastaturhintergrundbeleuchtung hätte den guten Eindruck abgerundet.

Touchpad

Das Touchpad ist gewachsen und bietet bei Abmessungen von 93 x 53 Millimetern (B x H) und einer nutzbaren Diagonale von 10,6 Zentimetern eine angenehme Oberfläche mit guten Gleiteigenschaften. Das Gerät von Synaptics nennt sich LuxPad V7.5 und unterstützt Multi-Touch Gesten.（Akku Sony VGP-BPS9/B ） Die altbewährten Scrollbalken am Rand sind nicht vorhanden und lassen sich auch nicht über die Einstellungen aktivieren. Andererseits ist das Arbeiten mit den Gesten recht problemlos möglich. Die Mausersatztasten sind in der passenden Farbe lackiert und die physikalische Trennung gefällt. Auch der klare Druckpunkt, （VGP-BPS9/S Akku ） der kurze Hub sowie die geringe Geräuschentwicklung sind Pluspunkte.

Aspire 4520 battery

There are various controls on the device. ( Sony VGP-BPS13A/S Battery ) One lets you turn on the HTC tablet and another is for volume control. These buttons are found on the device’s upper left. HTC has cleverly solved the three control fields for Home, Back and Options. They are implemented twice on the unit and useable depending on the tablets position.

These three control fields are located at the screen’s bottom in the landscape mode and have a backlight. ( VGP-BPS13A/S battery ) They « move » when the device is turned around into the portrait mode and are then at the tablet’s bottom. The other three control fields, which are now at the screen’s side, are disabled in this position, just like their backlight.

There are a total of seven sensors in the HTC Flyer, ( battery Vostro 1310 ) which can be used in relation to the application. The accelerometer, for example, responds to the tablet’s position and detects all three axes. These positions are used especially within games. The sensors can also be used in other applications, such as a water level.

The lighting conditions are determined by the webcam. This sensor makes it possible to adjust the brightness automatically. ( vostro 1400 battery ) Other sensors determine the Earth’s gravity field (compass), serve localization or give battery state information (Latitude D620 Battery ) (charge status, temperature). Noise levels can be determined via the microphone.

A digital stylus is included for the Flyer as another input device. ( Battery Aspire 4710 battery ) You can write notes, draw pictures or highlight text in color with it. Sketching proves to work very smoothly with the pen. Many various brushes, colors and patterns can also be chosen in the menu. The stylus and its « artistic function » can be used in almost every application.Alike Nintendo’s game console, you can edit, manipulate or comment your pictures.( Acer Aspire One battery ) Notes via stylus can even be written within websites, menus or emails. ( Dell Laptop Battery ) The pen can also be used as a marker within text sections.

Alternative main screenThe LC display has a screen diagonal of 7 inches ( Vostro 1320 Battery ) (17.78 cm) and a resolution of 1024×600. The touchscreen can reproduce 16.7 million colors at a dot density of 170 dpi.
The capacitive screen allows you to play games or write emails on the HTC Flyer and control it. ( dell Inspiron 1720 Battery ) The screen supports multi-touch inputs, such as rotate, zoom in or out of websites or pictures, with the usual gestures.

The screen content adjusts to the device’s position and rotates from landscape mode to the portrait mode when the HTC is turned. Screen content rotation can also be disabled in the settings.
The reproduced colors on the Flyer make a very saturated impression. ( inspiron 1520 battery ) Our measurements resulted in a maximum brightness rate of 352 cd/m2. The brightness decreases towards the upper left corner, though. The illumination is 87%. The average of this display is good 327:1 cd/m2.

The HTC Flyer’s glossy screen mirrors a lot of the environment in outdoor use. Aside from the usual self portrayal, direct sunlight is lethal for the display content. Watching videos or simply reading emails is particularly agonizing. Moreover,( Dell Inspiron 1420 battery ) the contrast and colors suffer. They fade faster than during indoor use. A shady place, for example in the beer garden, only remedies this to an extent.

The SLCD screen’s content is well-legible from almost every viewing angle on the Flyer. ( Dell Inspiron 1525 battery ) There wasn’t anything to complain about in the standard test angle of 45 degrees. All details and colors were well visible in this angle – even when the tablet was tilted further towards the back or front. All screen contents are still well-readable at 85 degrees. The content becomes illegible when the reflections on the display multiply themselves.( battery vostro 1510 ) However, the picture doesn’t invert or fade.

The ( VGP-BPS13B/B battery ) Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8255 is a so-called « system on one chip » solution. This means that the most important hardware components of a computer are united on one single chip. A single core processor, a graphics chip and the GSM and UMTS modules are on this one chip solution. Until now, ( battery dell Vostro 1520 ) the Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8255 was favored for use in modern smartphones.

The CPU almost always works with 216 MHz ( Dell inspiron 6400 battery ) (during a test day)The manufacturer states the system’s processor core rate to be 1.5 GHz. As we have already noticed in other tablets, the Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8255 works with a low clock depending on the requirements. This means the clock rate orientates itself autonomously on the requirements of active programs. The processor clocks down to 266 MHz when only little computing performance is needed.( HP compaq 8510w battery ) The clock rate is increased in graphics-heavy application and reaches its maximum at 1500 MHz. The Qualcomm processor has a RAM of 1 GB available.

In the executed benchmarks, the HTC Flyer is almost on a par with the 10 inch tablets that we were allowed to review over the past weeks. ( battery VGP-BPS9/B ) The HTC Flyer clearly surpasses the 7 inch devices from Dell or Creative in Browsermark. However, ( Aspire 4520 battery ) the HTC device didn’t quite reach the rates of Asus’ Eee Tab Transformer.

Review HTC Flyer 7 inch WiFi+3G Tablet/MID

The small, ( vgp-bps13/s battery )slim HTC Flyer almost looks like an Apple product. Silver, white and black make up the device’s basic colors. HTC hasn’t yet equipped its product with the latest Android 3.0 Honeycomb in terms of operating system. Instead, Gingerbread runs on the tablet. ( battery vgp-bps13a/s ) The Taiwanese manufacturer thus still relies on Android 2.3.3 at the moment. However, it has a modified HTC Sense surface. An update to Android 3 is to be available for the HTC in the near future.

HTC also does its own thing in terms of processor.( apple a1185 battery ) While an Nvidia Tegra 2 processor was installed into most test devices that Notebookcheck had reviewed until now, HTC uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8255 for its Flyer. This CPU runs with a maximum clock rate of 1.5 GHz. The CPU is also responsible for the tablet’s graphics output.

HTC’s first 7 inch tabletAs it’s appropriate for a 7 inch tablet, the HTC’s dimensions are also quite handy. ( battery vgp-bps13as ) The device fits in every jacket or pants pocket with 12.9x195x125 mm (height x width x depth). However, you should be careful to not accidentally sit down on the device in the latter alternative since the case isn’t that stable. The HTC Flyer is composed of an aluminum unibody case that has been shaped from one block. ( sony vgp-bps13s battery ) The case is made of three parts: the 7 inch display (17.78 cm display diagonal) on the front, two plastic parts and the aluminum unibody case.

The case weighs about 430 grams and doesn’t feel heavy after longer use.( hp 452057-001 ) Thus, the HTC Flyer is a bit heavier than the Ziio by Creative, but roughly 25 grams lighter than the Streak 7 by Dell in terms of weight. The case’s workmanship isn’t that great. It creaks practically everywhere at the material transitions, even when we only apply light pressure.

Slots for SD and SIM cards are protected in the deviceHTC ( battery vgp-bps13b/b ) hasn’t provided the Flyer with much in terms of the interfaces and external controls. A laterally placed USB port, a headphone socket and two keys for volume control are the first things we see.
On the one hand, the built-in battery is charged via the USB port. ( sony vgp-bps13b/s battery ) On the other, the port also serves the Flyer as an interface for data exchange. The included data cable can also be used as a charge cable with the PC or notebook.

Both Windows 7 and Vista detect the data drive without difficulties.( battery sony VGP-BPS13 ) The transfer rate is far beneath the anticipated USB 2.0 transfer rates, but it could be worse. Transferring data, pictures and videos is faster than with the Motorola Xoom in the test. Nevertheless, the data transfer was very elongated particularly with larger amounts of data. ( vgp-bps13/b battery ) Bigger video files should preferably be shared via a microSD card by means of an external card reader.

The slots for the microSD card and for a SIM card for mobile Internet access are found beneath the plastic cover on the flipside – where the digicam is also located. Removing the cover is a bit tricky. The instructions for this aren’t of much help, ( battery sony VGP-BPS13 ) so you will have to try a bit until it opens. After all, you don’t want to destroy your HTC right away. ( battery VGP-BPS13A/B ) Opening is fairly easy when you get the trick. Closing it is easier. The lower area on the flipside can’t be removed and thus doesn’t reveal any other interfaces.
The HTC Flyer has Wireless LAN ( battery vostro 1520 ) (WiFi) standard IEEE 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 3.0 for communicating with the world. A SIM card can be inserted for Internet access in the models with WiFi + 3G. GSM, 3G and HSPA in the bandwidths 850, 900, 1800 and 1900 are supported. ( battery Compaq CQ42 )All connections can be disabled via a hot key and thus put the Flyer in the flight mode.

The PC’s Internet connection can also be shared via HTC software.( battery HP Compaq 8510P ) Data is transferred via the USB cable. The HTC tablet can also be utilized as a modem for an access point (tethering). This allows other computers or tablets to use the Flyer’s 3G Internet connection.

A GPS receiver is also installed into the Flyer.( battery hp probook 4510s ) It turns the tablet into a navigation device. The GPS data can be used with Google Maps or the installed navigation software, among others. The maps have to be downloaded before initial use in the latter case, though. As in a « genuine » navigation unit, the synthesized voice can be selected. ( ibm 40Y6795 ) Several languages can be installed on the HTC Flyer – all with a feminine or masculine voice.

Two cameras are also built into the HTC Flyer. ( lenovo Thinkpad T60 Battery )The webcam that is located above the display in the center has a resolution of 1.3 megapixels and has been mainly conceived for chats. A 5 MP camera with digital zoom is found on the flipside. The digicam doesn’t have a flash.

The digicam is controlled via the 7 inch display,( vgp-bps13b/s Battery ) whereas more than 90% of the display is available as a preview window for the photographer. The pictures can be saved in various quality levels, between small (640×368) and 5 megapixels (2592×1520). The video quality can be set between 720P and MMS (176×144). ( HP 6545B Battery ) The video clips are saved in 3GP format. One minute in maximum resolution is about 60 MBs.

Both sample pictures show the same scene, ( hp Compaq CQ40 Battery ) one with and the other without digital zoom. The second picture’s zoom factor was set to 3.8 times. You can see the same picture taken with a Canon Powershot camera for a direct comparison.

There is nothing awe-inspiring about the supplies that come with the Flyer. First you’ll find the battery charger and then there is a USB connection cable.( hp probook 4710s battery ) There is also a bit of printed material in the box. A comprehensive manual is found in the device’s memory as a PDF file. In addition, there is a headphone and a « Magic Stick ». This digital stylus is a new HTC innovation because you can sketch, draw,( Dell xps m1530 battery ) write and edit pictures directly on the display.

The HTC Flyer’s control will usually be over the 7 inch display. The applications are started and controlled via touch. ( hp Compaq 8510W battery )A virtual QWERTZ keyboard is faded in on the screen. This keyboard however doesn’t include any German umlauts and, unlike our Dell test device, doesn’t support any swipe inputs in state of delivery.

Alternative add-ons for the keyboard bid more convenience. ( ibm Thinkpad T61 Battery ) They can be – partly for free – downloaded from the Android market. Composing emails, making notes or entering an URL in the browser works quite well. We didn’t notice a delay between touching the screen and execution. The actions are implemented immediately.

Test MSI A6400 Ci507 S Notebook

Der knackige Anschlag der Tasten hat uns sehr gut gefallen und die Tasten vermitteln ein sehr angenehmes Schreibgefühl.( Sony VGP-BPS22A Akku ) Auch das Schreibgeräusch konnte überzeugen – es ist sehr unauffällig und leise. ( Akku VGP-BPS22 ) Im Kapitel Design haben wir die Stabilität der rechten Seite der Tastatur bemängelt, beim normalen Schreibbetrieb fällt dies aber kaum noch auf, lediglich beim Betätigen der Enter-Taste spürt man das Nachgeben noch ein wenig.

Deckeldesigner. ( akku Acer Aspire One ) Lenovo liefert mit dem IdeaPad Z370 ein 13 Zoll Subnotebook mit aktuellen Intel Core Prozessoren der zweiten Generation. Neben der Hardware hat man sich vor allem bei der Optik viel Mühe gegeben So verfügt das Notebook etwa über einen Displaydeckel mit 3D-Effekt. Alles nur Effekthascherei?
Mit dem IdeaPad Z370 bringt Lenovo ein kompaktes 13,3 Zoll Subnotebook auf den Markt.( Dell M1530 Akku ) Lenovo hat das IdeaPad Z370 nach dem Vorsatz „Hohe Eleganz ist nicht gleich hoher Preis“ entwickelt. Aber das IdeaPad Z370 soll nicht nur durch seine Optik punkten, aktuelle Intel Prozessoren mit Sandy Bridge Architektur sollen für genügend Rechenleistung sorgen. Die Liste reicht bis zu einem aktuellen Core i7 und einer 1 TB Festplatte.( akku Apple A1175 ) In unserem Test sehen wir uns das Modell mit dem Intel Core i5-2410M und 750 GB großer Festplatte an. Zudem sind zahlreiche Sonderfunktionen mit an Bord. So spendiert Lenovo dem IdeaPad Z370 unter anderem OneKey Recovery, OneKey Theater oder die Rapid Boot Technologie.( Akku Dell 6400 ) Ob diese Programme einen wirklichen Mehrwert für den Benutzer bringen, wird sich zeigen.Klappt man das Display hoch, erblickt man eine Aluminiumoberfläche, (Akku VGP-BPS13b/q )die sich über den gesamten Innenraum erstreckt. Über die Farbgebung bei der Oberfläche lässt sich zwar streiten – bei unserem Testmuster besitzt sie etwa eine leichte rosa Tönung – dafür ist sie aber resistent gegen Fingerabdrücke und fühlt sich zudem noch gut an. ( HP Compaq CQ42 akku ) Die Handballenauflagen sind sehr druckresistent und geben auch bei größerem,( Akku Compaq presario CQ60 ) punktuellem Druck kein Stück nach. Auch die linke Seite der Tastatur erwies sich als ausgesprochen stabil. Diese Stabilität nahm aber, je weiter man sich in Richtung optisches Laufwerk bewegt, deutlich ab. Direkt über dem Laufwerk lässt sich die Tastatur um ein paar Millimeter eindrücken. Auch an der hinteren Kante, also über dem Akkufach, lässt sich die Oberfläche ein paar Millimeter eindrücken.

Die Verarbeitungsqualität des Notebooks macht insgesamt einen sehr soliden Eindruck.( akku VGP-BPS9A/S ) Positiv überrascht hat uns die aus Aluminium bestehende Handballenauflage. Die Spaltmaße sind größtenteils sehr gleichmäßig, einzig links und rechts der Tastatur konnten wir geringe Unterschiede feststellen. Aufwerten lässt sich das IdeaPad Z370 über eine große Klappe auf der Rückseite. Hier gewährt Lenovo dem Benutzer viel Spielraum. ( Sony VGP-BPS13a/q Akku )Wer möchte, könnte theoretisch sogar den Prozessor austauschen.

Lenovo hat leider auf die schnellen USB 3.0 Schnittstellen verzichtet. Insgesamt bietet das Notebook stattdessen drei USB 2.0 Anschlüsse. Bei einem handelt es sich um einen kombinierten USB 2.0 /E-SATA Anschluss. ( acer aspire 7740 Akku ) Die Anschlüsse sind weitestgehend so angeordnet, dass sie den Benutzer nicht zu sehr stören. Auf der rechten Seite des Notebooks sind kaum Anschlüsse vorhanden und die Anschlüsse die häufiger Verwendung finden (USB und Netzanschluß) sind nach hinten gewandert.(Akku sony VGP-BPS13/b ) Auf der linken Seite befindet sich leider der Großteil der Anschlüsse im vorderen Bereich, hier stören sie allerdings nicht so stark, da die meisten Benutzer die Maus eher auf der rechten Seite des Notebooks liegen haben. An der Rückseite befinden sich konstruktionsbedingt durch Akku und Display keine Anschlüsse.
An der Front befindet sich der 5-in-1 Kartenleser.( Acer Aspire 3680 akku ) Dieser versteht sich auf die Formate MMC, SD, Memory Stick (Pro) und xD-Card. Zum Schutz befindet sich hier bereits eine Dummy-Karte. Neben dem Einschub befindet sich noch ein kleiner Schalter, mit dem man die Funktechnologien ein- oder ausschalten kann.

Schon am Werbetext von Lenovo spürt man,( Akku Apple A1185 ) dass beim IdeaPad Z370 viel Wert auf die Optik gelegt wurde. Alleine beim Displaydeckel hat man sich sehr viel Mühe gegeben. So wurden hier ein Transparenz-, Metallic- und ein 3D-Effekt eingebaut. Unter der Oberfläche befindet sich ein Muster aus kleinen Quadraten, das je nach Blickrichtung mehr oder weniger sichtbar ist. Es handelt sich bei dem Ganzen zwar um einen netten Effekt, aber dadurch besitzt der Deckel auch wieder eine glatte, glänzende Oberfläche. ( Sony VGP-BPS2 akku ) Diese ist wiederum sehr anfällig für Fingerabdrücke und Kratzer. Ein Reinigungstuch wird also empfohlen. Bei Druck gibt der Displaydeckel leicht nach und auch gegen Verwindungen ist das Display nicht gefeit – allerdings traten dabei keine Farbverfälschungen auf. Die Scharniere sind nicht besonders straff eingestellt.( Akku Acer 5920G ) Dadurch kann man das Notebook zwar bequem mit einer Hand öffnen, ohne dass die Baseunit mit nach oben gezogen wird, bei Bewegungen wippt das Display aber deutlich nach.

Der Lieferumfang fällt nicht sehr üppig aus. Neben dem Notebook selbst, ( Akku Inspiron 9400 )dem Akku und dem Netzteil befindet sich noch etwas gedruckte Dokumentation und Garantiekarten in dem Karton. Auf Treiber- oder Wiederherstellungs DVDs wurde verzichtet.( Akku Aspire 5100 ) Die Wiederherstellung des Systems funktioniert über die OneKey Recovery Lösung. Diese kennen wir bereits aus früheren Lenovo Geräten und hat damals schon gut funktioniert.

Lenovo setzt bei der Tastatur auf eine AccuType Tastatur.( Latitude D630 Akku ) Im Grunde handelt es sich also um eine Tastatur mit freistehenden Tasten, auch genannt Chiclet Tastatur. Die einzelnen Tasten sind 15 x 15 Millimeter groß und leicht konisch. ( akku dell vostro 1710 )Das bedeutet, dass sie eine leichte Wölbung nach innen besitzen, was die Orientierung verbessern und die Treffsicherheit erhöhen soll. Aber auch ohne die Wölbung, sollte allein der Tastenabstand von 4 Millimetern für eine ausreichende Treffsicherheit sorgen.

Die beiden Maustasten wurden nach dem Vorbild einer Wippe gestaltet und bestehen aus einer großen Taste. （Sony VGP-BPS9/B Akku ） Der Hub der Tasten ist recht kurz ausgefallen, stört aber auch nicht weiter.（Sony VGP-BPS9/S Akku ） Auch mit den beiden Touchpadtasten lässt sich vernünftig arbeiten.

Über der Tastatur befindet sich noch eine Reihe an Sondertasten. ( Sony VGP-BPS8A Akku ) So findet man rechts über der Tastatur beispielsweise Tasten um die Audio-Lautstärke zu regeln. Diese sind als kapazitive Tasten ausgelegt,( Sony VGP-BPS8 Akku ) so dass ein Berühren der Taste ausreicht um den gewünschten Effekt auszulösen. Links über der Tastatur befindet sich der große Power-Knopf und der, zurecht sehr klein gehaltene, OneKey Recovery Knopf.

Lenovo spendiert dem IdeaPad Z370 ein Multitouch Touchpad mit einer Diagonalen von 95 Millimetern ( Akku VGP-BPS13A/B ) (42 Millimeter x 85 Millimeter). Das Touchpad selbst befindet sich in einer Vertiefung in der Handballenauflage, ( Sony VGP-BPS9A/B Akku ) wodurch die Grenzen des Pads klar definiert werden. Die Oberfläche des Touchpads wurde leicht angeraut und erhielt eine gepunktete Struktur. Das soll der Präzision des Touchpads zu Gute kommen. An der rechten Seite gibt es noch einen vertikalen Scrollbalken, der horizontale Scrollbereich ist standardmäßig deaktiviert. Multitouch funktionierte ebenfalls problemlos und ließ uns mit Leichtigkeit durch Dokumente und Webseiten scrollen oder Bilder vergrößern.( Sony VGP-BPS9 Akku ) Insgesamt lässt sich mit dem Touchpad sehr gut arbeiten.

Bei den Netzwerkverbindungen lässt das IdeaPad Z370 kaum Wünsche offen.( sony VGP-BPS13b/b Akku ) Um die WLAN Verbindungen kümmert sich eine Atheros AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter Karte. Diese versteht sich auf die Standards 802.11bg/b/g/n. Wer lieber Kabelgebunden ins Netz geht, kann auf den PCIe Family Controller von Realtek zurückgreifen. Allerdings liefert dieser nur die Geschwindigkeiten 10 MBit/s und 100 MBit/s. ( Akku sony VGP-BPS13B/S ) Gigabit Ethernet wird leider nicht unterstützt. Bluetooth ist ebenfalls mit an Bord, allerdings noch nicht 3.0, sonder noch in der 2.1 Version mit EDR.

As long as the Asus K53SV can use both of its cores in multi-mode during the Cinebench R10 ( Aspire 4520 battery ) (32-bit) benchmark, then the system manages to score 7979 points with its Intel CPU. Intel’s Intel Core i7-720QM ( battery VGP-BPS9/B ) quad-core processor managed significantly more points in the Lenovo IdeaPad Y560 (8359). When it comes to applications that are intended for several cores the quad-core processor has a significant advantage thanks to its additional two cores compared to the Intel Core i5 2410M. With Cinebench R11 the CPU is in the same area as other notebooks with the Intel Core i5 2410M with 2.5 points. Altogether the notebook with its Intel dual-core Core i5 2410M can be found in the upper mid-range of our test database.( HP compaq 8510w battery )

With PCMark Vantage as well as the new Benchmark-Tool PCMark 7 from Futuremark,( battery dell Vostro 1520 ) we tested the application performance of the K53SV. In PCMark Vantage the score of 6043 points was enough to nudge into the mid-range of our test database, ( VGP-BPS13B/B battery ) surrounded by comparable configurations. With the latest release of PCMark 7 the Asus notebook falls back a little though. In this case the test database doesn’t contain many entries yet however.

As usual we proceeded to test the graphics performance with the aid of the benchmark series 3DMark.( Sony VGP-BPS13/B battery ) In this case the Nvidia GeForce GT 540M scored the typical results for this graphics card.( battery vostro 1510 ) With 3DMark Vantage the tested device managed to score 4170 points in total. The Schenker XMG A501 (W150HRM) notebook only managed a significantly better result (5357) with an Nvidia GeForce GT 555M using the same processor. The Asus K53SV nevertheless lingers amongst the upper third of devices in our test database. The gaming suitability was additionally tested by us using current games with different settings.

The included hard drive from Western Digital provides an ample capacity of 640 GBytes. ( Dell Inspiron 1525 battery ) The model WD6400BPVT-80HXZT1 has a rotational speed of 5400 rpm. We tested the performance of the hard drive with HD Tune 2.55 and CrystalDiskMark 3. The 2.5 inch HDD nudges into the mid-range of our test database.( Dell Inspiron 1420 battery ) The average transfer rate lies at 63.6 MB/s.( Dell inspiron 1520 battery ) Slow access times of 20.2 milliseconds don’t speak in favor of the hard drive either, since there are several faster models available on the market.

Following the theoretical performance tests with 3DMark we also tested the performance using five current games.( dell Inspiron 1720 Battery ) The popular football game Fifa 11 is not excessively demanding, and can be played smoothly with 71 frames per second using the maximum detail settings.
When it comes to Call of Duty Black Ops, Dirt 3, and Mafia 2, this already reaches a critical level with a high detail setting using the native resolution (1366×768). In this case there are occasional glitches from time to time. Battlefield Bad Company 2 only reached 26 fps with high detail settings, ( Vostro 1320 Battery ) whereby the fun of playing the game is lost. Compared to other notebooks with an identical configuration, the Asus K53SV falls behind and ranks towards the bottom of our test database, far from the leaders (e.g. Asus K73SV 2410M/GT540M – 32 fps). ( Dell Laptop Battery ) In the Mafia 2 benchmark test the notebook can however get to the top of the list in the benchmark comparison.

Frontal view, ( Acer Aspire One battery ) sun from the backThe display’s vertical viewing angles are very tight with the usual 15 degrees. We can deviate horizontally to the left or right better, but only up to about 45 degrees. Beyond that, the screen clearly dims and colors fade. ( Battery Acer Aspire 4710 ) The narrow viewing angles hardly will affect the Lifebook’s single user. Viewing problems first turn up when five pairs of eyes look at the screen at the same time. Ghosting can get very annoying in pictures or movies. The Lifebook NH751 proves that a better job is possible.
The 15.6 incher is equipped with an Intel Core i3-2310M (2x 2.1 GHz). The Core i3 dual core CPU isn’t capable of Turbo Boost,( dell Latitude D620 Battery ) but Hyper Threading (processing on 4 threads). For more information about the processor for low-cost notebook, please see the data sheet.

The NVIDIA GeForce GT 525M ( dell vostro 1400 battery ) (1024 MB) isn’t solely responsible for 3D calculations. The graphics chip, HD Graphics 3000, in the processor is enabled (GT 525M can be deactivated via Optimus). The RAM configuration is 4 GB, whereas two 2048 MB modules occupy both RAM slots.( Vostro 1310 battery ) A 5400 rpm, 320 GB HDD from Seagate (ST9320325AS) is used as the hard disk.

System information: Fujitsu Lifebook AH531
The Core i3-2310M (2x 2.1 GHz)( Sony VGP-BPS13A/S battery ) manages just as many points (2761) as the much higher clocked Arrandale generation i3-380M (2x 2.5 GHz; 2751 points) in Cinebench R10 Single 32bit. The big brother, i5-2410M (2.3 GHz, Turbo Boost) achieves a considerably faster 4510 points (64bit).

During the course of our benchmark tests,( VGP-BPS13A/S Battery ) particularly with more demanding games such as BF:BC2, a very inconsistent series of results were observed when carrying out the same benchmarks more than once. This could be an indication of thermal throttling.

Review Asus K53SV-SX131V Notebook

IceCool. ( ibm Thinkpad T61 Battery )Asus is trying to appeal to the mainstream with its new K53SV multimedia notebook. The 15 inch device should impress with its Intel Core i5-2410M dual-core processor, as well as the GeForce GT 540M graphics card from Nvidia. In addition to this the neat case also contains a Blu-ray drive.( hp Compaq 8510W battery )
The Taiwanese manufacturer ASUS already confirmed a refresh of the K-series at the CES in Los Angeles at the beginning of the year. This series is aimed at customers who are looking for a mainstream model notebook with good all-round characteristics. ( Dell xps m1530 battery ) Along with our tested model there is also the 17 inch K73SV, and there are also the model variants K73SV -TY032V, as well as the K73SV -TY053V available. In addition to this our tested model is also available in two different versions. The K53SV-SX126V and the K53SV-SX131V versions are differentiated by two components. Instead of the 8x DVD Super Multi D/L drive in the K53SV-SX126V, our tested model has a 4x Blu-ray Combo drive. Other than this our tested model also has a 640 GByte hard drive, instead of the 500 GB HDD which is included with the K53SV-SX126V.Technically our tested K53SV-SX131V slots into the multimedia mid-range.( hp probook 4710s battery ) At its heart lies the dual-core processor Intel Core i5 2410M, which reaches a clock speed of up to 2.9 GHz with Turbo-Boost. The graphics card is an Nvidia GeForce GT 540M. In addition to this there are 4096 MB of DDR3-RAM (1333 MHz). The Blu-ray drive is intended to make the K53SV a full-fledged multimedia notebook,( hp Compaq CQ40 Battery ) with which it is also possible to play games from time to time. ( HP 6545B Battery ) Whether or not this notebook is really suitable for this purpose can be discovered in the following review.

Case
The K53SV has an elegant metallic design with high quality materials. ( vgp-bps13b/s Battery ) The surface of the mainstream model is composed of aluminum. The lid is embellished with a pattern, which provides for improved grip and makes it insensitive to scratches. The area around the palm resting area is also not very prone to scratching, since this is composed of a brushed aluminum material. Fingerprints are almost invisible on the surface around the palm resting area. ( lenovo Thinkpad T60 Battery )The base plate in contrast is composed of plastic. The base plate itself is made up of a single large plate, which provides for access to the inside. ( ibm 40Y6795 ) The K53SV was designed according to the IceCool technology. This is responsible for the cool palm resting area. The components, which release a lot of heat, were positioned in such a way that the heat is able to dissipate.

The case of our tested device is very stable. The surface can only be dented marginally. Even the area around the optical drive, which is often the biggest weak spot as far as stability is concerned, can withstand localized pressure.( battery hp probook 4510s ) This is valid for the bottom as well as the top of the notebook. Additionally the case is also not bendable.
The display lid in comparison can be dented considerably in the middle, which is within limits though. The hinges hold the display firmly in place. When adjusting the opening angle the display only wobbles a small amount.

The notebook itself stays completely still on the desktop,( battery HP Compaq 8510P ) which is amongst other things due to the considerable weight of 2.7 kilograms. Altogether the manufacturing quality leaves a high quality impression.
Interfaces are provided by the Asus K53SV on the left and right sides. At the front is a card reader, and at the back there are no interfaces. A muddle of cables next to the laptop seems to be unavoidable due to the location of the ports, ( battery Compaq CQ42 ) if many external devices are used. Altogether the model only offers three USB 2.0 ports. There are no eSATA or more up to date USB 3.0 ports available. In order to enjoy watching HD movies on an external monitor, there are a VGA output as well as an HDMI interface available.

The possibilities to connect to a network or to communicate with other devices are more on the sparse side. ( battery vostro 1520 ) The Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller (Gigabyte LAN) makes it possible to connect a LAN cable,( battery VGP-BPS13A/B ) while wireless LAN is made possible by the Atheros AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter (bgn). Bluetooth or a UMTS module are unfortunately missing completely. At the very least Bluetooth would have been a real advantage in this device category.

When it comes to the included accessories the Taiwanese manufacturer has made some savings. ( battery sony VGP-BPS13 ) Along with the notebook and the AC adapter, there is merely some printed documents such as the handbook in the box.

Asus provides a 24 month warranty with pickup & return (battery 1 year)( vgp-bps13/b battery ) for this model in the K-series. The extension of the warranty to 36 months is possible for an additional 80 Euros. The warranty extension has to be activated within the first 90 days though.

The chiclet keyboard has a complete alpha-numeric keypad.( battery sony VGP-BPS13 ) The somewhat smaller keys have a generous distance between them, but are a little slippery. To make up for this the pressure point is nicely crisp though. The keys have a rather hard end stop, and a medium key travel. Frequent typers should be able to get used to the included chiclet keyboard over time.

The touchpad is below the space bar, ( sony vgp-bps13b/s battery ) and is ideally suited to the design of the notebook. The PalmProof technology is supposed to interpret unintended contact with the sensitive surface as accidental, and does not process this. The cursor is therefore only supposed to move when a finger operates the touchpad. The PalmProof technology was also able to prove itself in practice, and there were no empty promises. Nevertheless, vertical and horizontal scroll bars are missing. ( battery vgp-bps13b/b ) The two mouse buttons unfortunately only have a very short key travel.
The 15.6 inch display has a model description of CPT14C7. The HD panel has a maximum resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. Higher resolutions are possible with an external display. The panel has a 16:9 aspect ratio, and has a reflective surface.( hp 452057-001 ) The contrast of the glare-type display lies at a mere 181:1, and thus makes it into the average range of comparable devices at the best of times.

Is the Asus K53SV equipped for outdoor use with its 15.6 inch display? ( sony vgp-bps13s battery ) The answer to this question is rather on the disillusioning side: Within limits. Those that want to use the K53SV outdoors in the open,( battery vgp-bps13as ) will at the very least have to find a place in the shade. Under direct sunlight users will see themselves on the display more than anything else.
At the heart of the Asus K53SV is Intel’s Core i5 2410M dual-core processor. The Sandy Bridge CPU has a basic clock speed of 2.3 GHz, ( apple a1185 battery ) and can increase this to 2.9 GHz with Turbo-Boost. Integrated into the 64-bit processor with a TDP of 35 Watts is also the graphic chip HD Graphics 3000.
For more demanding graphics performance there is also a graphics card from Nvidia included though. Mit dem Acer Aspire One 722 bietet das taiwanische Unternehmen ab sofort auch seinen mit 11,6-Zoll-Bildschirm größten Netbook-Vertreter in einer aktuellen Ausführung an. Ähnlich dem bereits getesteten Acer Aspire One 522 kommt das Testgerät mit der 1 GHz schwachen AMD C-50 Dual-Core APU （Akku Sony VGP-BPS9/B ）(Accelerated Processing Unit) samt integrierter AMD Radeon HD 6250 Grafikeinheit. Die weiteren Eckdaten, in Form von 2 GByte DDR3-Arbeitsspeicher, 250 GByte Festplattenkapazität und den üblichen Schnittstellen, wurden beibehalten.Neuerungen hält das Netbook in den Bereichen Gehäuse und Bildschirm bereit.( Akku VGP-BPS9 ) Letzterer bietet bei bekannten Abmessungen nun eine native Auflösung von 1280 x 720 Pixel (HD-ready) sowie eine hochglänzende Oberfläche.( Sony VGP-BPS9A/B Akku ) Der Vorgänger bot in diesem Bereich noch die feinere Auflösung von 1366 x 768 Pixel im 16:9 Format.

Mit einer unverbindlichen Preisempfehlung von 349 Euro inklusive ( Akku VGP-BPS13A/B ) Mehrwertsteuer liegt das Gerät im üblichen Preisrahmen für eine solche Konfiguration. Im Vergleich zum Vorgänger ist es aber ein wenig günstiger geworden.

Passend zum aktuellen Innenleben hat Acer auch das Äußere überarbeitet und bietet nun ein frisches Design.( Sony VGP-BPS8 Akku ) Auf den ersten Blick wirkt es durch die rundlichere Form etwas freundlicher und die rundum schwarze Farbgebung überzeugt. Abgesehen von den hochglänzenden Oberflächen ein stimmiges Paket, welches durch die Raindrop-Textur des Displaydeckels aufgelockert wird. Neben der schwarzen Ausführung ist das Gerät weiterhin in Blau, ( Sony VGP-BPS8A Akku ) Rot und Weiß erhältlich, wobei die zugehörigen deutschen Produktseiten bis dato nicht verfügbar sind. Die Verarbeitung sowie Lackierung hinterlässt grundsätzlich einen guten Eindruck, allerdings sind im Detail die bei unserem Testgerät teilweise unsauberen Übergänge der Kunststoffteile zu bemängeln.

Im puncto Stabilität kann das Chassis nicht vollkommen überzeugen.( Akku Sony VGP-BPS22 ) Im mittleren Bereich ist schon bei leichtem Druck ein sichtbares Nachgeben zu beobachten, wodurch die Tastatur auch sehr schwammig daherkommt. Der Displaydeckel ist im Vergleich relativ verwindungssteif und lässt nur eine minimale Verformung zu. Bei stärkerem Druck von Außen bilden sich im eingeschalteten Zustand leichte Druckpunkte am Bild, ( Sony VGP-BPS22A Akku ) wobei dies im alltäglichen Gebrauch wohl kaum vorkommen sollte. Für einen guten Halt sorgen zwei zierliche Displayscharniere, die straff abgestimmt sind. Neben dem erfreulichen Öffnungswinkel von rund 150 Grad bleibt das sichtbare Nachwippen als kleiner Minuspunkt im Raum stehen.

Die Gehäuseunterseite gibt sich erfreulich offen und ermöglicht dem Nutzer einen schnellen Hardwarezugriff. ( akku dell vostro 1710 )Nach dem Lösen von nur einer Schraube lässt sich die große Wartungsabdeckung aufschieben, unter der ein Slot für DDR3-Arbeitsspeicher sowie das Speichermedium befinden. Platz für eine zweite RAM-Bank ist vorhanden, aber der dafür notwendige Slot wurde nicht angelötet,( Dell Latitude D630 Akku ) womit das einsetzbare Maximum bei 4 GByte DDR3-RAM liegt. Des Weiteren ist auch ein freier Steckplatz für eine PCI-Express Mini Card vorhanden. Aufgrund der fehlenden Antennen kann allerdings kein UMTS-Modul nachgerüstet werden. Ein kleines Solid State Drive (SSD),( Akku Acer Aspire 5100 ) wie beispielsweise Intels SSD Serie 310, wäre eventuell eine vorstellbare Option.

Am Schnittstellenumfang hat sich nichts verändert und es wird weiterhin der übliche Standard ohne Extras,( Dell Inspiron 9400 Akku ) wie beispielsweise USB 3.0, geboten. Vorhanden sind unter anderem drei USB-2.0-Ports, ein Multiformat-Kartenleser sowie ein moderner HDMI-Ausgang für die Übertragung von Bild und Ton in hoher Qualität. Die gebotenen Ports verteilen sich über die rechte sowie linke Gehäuseseite, wobei wir uns eine hecklastigere ( Akku VGP-BPS13B/S ) Positionierung sowie einen USB-3.0-Port gewünscht hätten. Die Front- sowie Rückseite bleiben frei von Anschlussmöglichkeiten, da das Gehäuse vorne spitz zuläuft beziehungsweise der 6-Zellen-Akku den Platz beansprucht.

Bei den Kommunikationsmöglichkeiten setzt sich das Bild fort und es wird der übliche Standard dieser Preisklasse geboten. Neben dem Netbook sind der 6-Zellen-Akku mit 49 Wattstunden, gedruckte Dokumentationen sowie das 40 Watt Netzteil enthalten. Ein nettes Feature dafür sind die wechselbaren Stecker-Aufsätze für verschiedene Länder. Nichts desto trotz lässt sich die gebotene Laufzeit bei Acer gegen Aufpreis erweitern. Zur Auswahl stehen 24 oder 36 Monate Laufzeit zu Preisen zwischen 45 und 89 Euro (UVP).

Das Floating-Keyboard (FineTip Keyboard)( Compaq CQ60 Akku ) ist im Netbook-Segment von Acer das Maß der Dinge und auch bei dieser Neuauflage wird es genutzt. Das Tippgefühl sowie die Eigenschaften gleichen dabei anderen Netbooks des Herstellers, wobei der subjektive Eindruck je nach Nutzer unterschiedlich ausfallen kann. Der Hubweg ist in diesem Fall relativ kurz und der Druckpunkt nicht deutlich zu erkennen. Ein Nachteil ist der zur Mitte hin schwammige Untergrund, ( HP Compaq CQ42 akku )der das Tippen unter Umständen beeinträchtigt. Die wichtigen Tasten sind ausreichend groß dimensioniert, (Akku VGP-BPS13b/q ) wobei es an den Rändern teilweise doch recht klein zu geht. Vielleicht hätte Acer sich an der TimelineX-Serie mit Chiclet-Style Tastatur (3830TG, 4830TG, 5830TG) orientieren sollen. Andere Hersteller haben diesen Trend bereits erkannt und umgesetzt.

Das Touchpad wurde überarbeitet und ist nun deutlich von der Handballenauflage abgegrenzt.( Akku Acer 5920G ) Mit einer Größe von 82 x 43 Millimetern (B x T) und einer nutzbaren Diagonale von 9,2 Zentimetern ist dieses Eingabegerät ausreichend groß dimensioniert. Das Navigieren ist dank leicht angerauter Oberfläche und der Unterstützung von Multi-Touch-Gestern einfach möglich. Die Mausersatztasten befinden sich unter einer hochglänzenden Wippe,( Sony VGP-BPS2 akku ) wodurch deren Bedienung nicht optimal ist. Zwei voneinander getrennte Tasten wären subjektiv angenehmer gewesen.

Glänzende 11,6 Zoll (HD)Einen kleinen Rückschritt gibt es im Bereich des Bildschirms. Bei einer Diagonale von 29,5 Zentimetern beziehungsweise 11,6 Zoll bietet das glänzende Panel von AUO (Typ: B116XW03 V2) nur noch eine native Auflösung von 1280 x 720 Pixel im 16:9 Format. ( Akku Apple A1185 ) Damit wird weiterhin der HD-ready Standard unterstützt, wobei das Acer Aspire One 721 als direkter Vorgänger noch mit feineren 1366 x 768 Pixel aufwarten konnte. Bei 1280 Pixeln in der Breite erspart man sich zwar größtenteils einen horizontalen Scrollbalken beim Surfen, aber für ein angenehmes Arbeiten schadet eine höhere Auflösung in den seltensten Fällen. ( Akku Dell 6400 ) Eine Möglichkeit für diese Komfortsteigerung ist weiterhin der Anschluss einer externen Anzeige via VGA- oder HDMI-Ausgang. Damit lässt sich dann auch ein Full-HD Display problemlos ansteuern.

Die integrierte LED-Hintergrundbeleuchtung des Bildschirms ermöglicht neben der besonders flachen Bauweise auch eine helle Beleuchtung. ( akku Apple A1175 ) Mit einem Maximalwert von 216 cd/m² beziehungsweise 203,6 cd/m² im Durchschnitt bewegt sich das Netbook im üblichen Mittelfeld. ( Dell M1530 Akku ) Positiv zu bewerten ist die mit 89 Prozent gleichmäßige Ausleuchtung der gesamten Fläche. Ein sichtbarer Helligkeitsunterschied oder ein Clouding ist nicht festzuhalten.
Ausleuchtung des Bildschirms
Bei den weiteren Messwerten bestätigt sich das Bild eines günstigen TN-Panels.( Acer Aspire One akku ) Der Schwarzwert ist mit 1,25 cd/m² leicht erhöht und eine satte Schwarz-Darstellung ist nicht möglich. Subjektiv wirken dunkle Hintergrundbilder leicht angegraut. Weiterer Kritikpunkt ist der folglich schwache Kontrast (164:1). Aufgrund der fehlenden Abdeckung des sRGB-Referenzfarbraums eignet sich das Gerät nicht für die professionelle Bearbeitung von Fotos. Dazu sei aber gesagt, dass bisher kein günstiges Netbook für Endkunden in diesem Bereich punkten konnte.

We can deviate horizontally to the left or right better, but only up to about 45 degrees. Beyond that, the screen clearly dims and colors fade. ( Battery Acer Aspire 4710 ) The narrow viewing angles hardly will affect the Lifebook’s single user. Viewing problems first turn up when five pairs of eyes look at the screen at the same time. Ghosting can get very annoying in pictures or movies. The Lifebook NH751 proves that a better job is possible.
The 15.6 incher is equipped with an Intel Core i3-2310M (2x 2.1 GHz). The Core i3 dual core CPU isn’t capable of Turbo Boost,( dell Latitude D620 Battery ) but Hyper Threading (processing on 4 threads). For more information about the processor for low-cost notebook, please see the data sheet.

The NVIDIA GeForce GT 525M ( dell vostro 1400 battery ) (1024 MB) isn’t solely responsible for 3D calculations. The graphics chip, HD Graphics 3000, in the processor is enabled (GT 525M can be deactivated via Optimus). The RAM configuration is 4 GB, whereas two 2048 MB modules occupy both RAM slots.( Vostro 1310 battery ) A 5400 rpm, 320 GB HDD from Seagate (ST9320325AS) is used as the hard disk.

System information: Fujitsu Lifebook AH531
The Core i3-2310M (2x 2.1 GHz)( Sony VGP-BPS13A/S battery ) manages just as many points (2761) as the much higher clocked Arrandale generation i3-380M (2x 2.5 GHz; 2751 points) in Cinebench R10 Single 32bit. The big brother, i5-2410M (2.3 GHz, Turbo Boost) achieves a considerably faster 4510 points (64bit).

The i3-2310M achieves 7550 points in multi-threading (Cinebench R10 Multi 64bit).( VGP-BPS13A/S Battery ) So, almost as many as the currently strongest i3 processor, 380M (7811). The i5-2410M and i5-2520M achieve 9451,( Dell Laptop Battery ) respectively 10128 points via Turbo Boost 2.0. Conclusively: the 2011 Core i3, in its smallest 2.1 GHz alternative, is almost on a par with its higher clocked Arrandale predecessors. If you’d like to have high computing performance for the next few years, you should spend the 50 euros more and take the AH531 version with an i5-2410M (starts at 600 euros).

PCMark Vantage determines a score of 5320 points. ( dell Inspiron 1720 Battery ) This is on the same level as the older systems with Core i3-380M (e.g. Samsung RV511: 5432) or i3-370M (Samsung SF510). Our test system reaches 1910 points in the new PCMark 7. The dedicated graphics card ensures an advantage because another i5-2410M notebook ( Dell inspiron 1520 battery ) (Lifebook LH531; Intel HD 3000 only) tested at the same time only achieves 1855 points despite the Turbo Boost processor (PCMark Vantage: 5902).

The 320 GB HDD from the manufacturer Seagate works slowly,( Dell Inspiron 1420 battery ) as we expect from a normal rotating 5400 rpm HDD. It only reads with 57 MB/s in sequential read (HDTune). CrystalDiskMark, as the second test, records 74 MB/s (different test routine than HDTune). PCMark Vantage’s HDD score shows a score of only 3339 points (sub score).

The HDD turns out to be the system’s brake,( Dell Inspiron 1525 battery ) which can be seen with a look at SSD notebooks. Even if we pick out a system with a rather weak processor, such as the Samsung 900X3A (i5-2537M 1.4 GHz), 23 thousand points in the HDD sub score let PCMark Vantage’s total score skyrocket to 8657 points. In the past, the gaming performance was slightly below that of a Radeon HD 6550 or HD 6650. ( VGP-BPS13B/B battery ) The synthetic benchmark however vary if the GT 525M or the Radeon HD 6550 compute faster. 3DMark 11 says, ( battery dell Vostro 1520 ) the HD 6550M is faster (+30%). The tessellation benchmark, Unigine Heaven, states a par (-4% for the HD 6550M). 3DMark Vantage says, the HD 6550 is a bit slower (-2%). In order to take a look at the gaming suitability, we ran three tests.

The shooter shows itself unimpressed from the « weak » i3 processor.( battery Dell inspiron 6400 ) The frame rate is 40 fps in medium settings. The GT 525M performs the same 40 fps when it’s supported by a quad core i7-2630QM (Fujitsu Lifebook NH751). Gamers would have more fun with a Geforce GT 540M (devices for less than 600 euros; +14%, ~31 fps). A Radeon HD 6550M is even faster by an average of 23% in high (~33 fps).

The multi-touch screen reacts well and accurately to commands from a finger.( HP 8510w battery ) Control using a pen is not intended as with the Iconia Tab W500. The navigation around the Android 3.0 surfaces is smooth, and apps open quickly.( battery sony VGP-BPS9/B ) Using different themes for screens it is possible to organize the apps as wished. Important operating functions, such as the zooming of pictures using a double-click or by using two fingers works perfectly. The rotating of pictures in comparison doesn’t work. The surface of the display has good traction properties and makes a robust impression,( Acer Aspire 4520 battery ) but is also very reflective. From time to time users should check the settings for apps that are no longer needed that may be running in the background. Should these become too many, then the reaction times become noticeably slower as a result.
